Old Town Hall wall and railings – decision deferred

Councillors Monica Coleman, Jayne McCoy and I have received a number of letters and email from people who are concerned about the proposals to reduce the height of the wall between the Old Town Hall ( Orchard Hill College and SCOLA) and the alley besides Barclays Bank.

This was due to be considered by the Council’s Planning Committee last night but we asked for it to be postponed to allow further discussions to take place. There will now be a meeting with representatives of the Friends of Wallington Library and of the Farmers’ Market who are the main objectors.

Detail of proposals: D2010/63700 Orchard Hill College Old Town Hall WOODCOTE ROAD Reduction in height of wall at side to 1 metre, topped with 1.8 metre high railings and dismantling pillar opposite northern entrance and reconstruct up to 1.5 metres back from existing position.
