They have developed strong links with the Safer Neighbourhood Police Teams, who attend all of their “Elevate” events. They also work closely with the Council’s Parks team and with the Centre for Environmental Initiatives bike project.
The group was formed in January 2005 and is a faith-based initiative organised by local churches to meet the need of skating, blading and bmx-ing young people in Sutton. I first heard of them when they ran a very successful week long skating event as a part of the "Soul in the City" initiative back in the summer of 2004.
This summer they put on some excellent skate events in Royston Park. These included fun and serious competitions; skills sharing and beginner’s taster sessions. Over 200 young people attended the first event of the year.
They hope to build an Indoor Youth and Ramp Centre in Sutton sometime in the future. The centre would offer something for all youth subcultures thus promoting understanding and respect between different groups of young people.
