We all need to be able to cross the road, but throughout London there are junctions that have traffic lights to control the flow of vehicles but no green men.
As a result there is often a continual stream of traffic coming from different directions and pedestrians have to take a chance and rush between cars when they think there is a gap.
Where green men crossings are missing walking becomes less attractive as a means of getting around, even for short trips. This isn't good for our health, local businesses or our communities. That’s why we need more green man crossings.
Transport for London is responsible for the maintenance and installation of traffic lights and green men crossings. But they have admitted that they do not even know the scale of the problem and have been unable to say how many green men crossings are missing.

What about Wallington?
After a long fight, I have finally convinced Transport for London that we need a green man phase on the busy Stafford Road, Stanley Park Road and Woodcote Road crossroads near Sainsbury’s in Wallington. We are now waiting for a date for the work to start.
