Help Support Stratton Avenue Residents

Stratton Avenue residents found out recently that the three attractive greens in their road and spanning Alington Grove are owned by Wates' the builders. How did they find out? Thanks to one eagle-eyed resident spotting the notice of auction in a trade magazine because Wates' want to sell the greens!

I'm doing what I can to help the residents, who are very resourceful, stop this happening or at least stop development on the greens if they are sold, by getting the council to consider putting Tree Preservation Orders on trees on the greens and checking the legal status of the land, which has been maintained as 'highway land' by Sutton Council for over 20 years.

To Wates' this is just a parcel of unwanted land in the huge portfolio of assets, but to local people, the greens are a beautiful addition to an attractive road.

If you want to support the local residents campaign, you can do so at their website: http://www.strattonavenue.org/
